CIDCA vice-chairman meets with UN under-secretary-general for global communications

Zhao Fengtao, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with a delegation headed by Melissa Fleming, the United Nations under-secretary-general for global communications, in Beijing on June 20. 

Zhao said that China, as a founding member of the UN, has practiced true multilateralism and continued to contribute to the UN undertakings. China is willing to establish partnership with the UN Department for Global Communications, strengthen international cooperation in communications, promote the common values of mankind, and jointly advance the implementation of the Global Development Initiative (GDI) and the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, in a bid to make greater contributions to building a community with a shared future for mankind, he added. 

Fleming lauded the CIDCA's contributions in leading South-South cooperation under the GDI framework and in supporting the independent and sustainable development of developing countries in key areas such as poverty reduction and eradication, infrastructure, and green development. She expressed her willingness to enhance communication and exchanges with the CIDCA, strengthen strategic coordination, and amplify the message of China and the UN working together for common development.
